Hi there
Thanks for popping in. Remember the Pottery Competition last week, when I asked you to try and guess what this was gonna be?

We had lots of vases and planters, fruit bowls and all sorts, but nobody could figure it out. So let’s take a closer look, and put it together – one step at a time…
Well, at this point most of you would have been correct! A Vase would have been correct. But no. Barbie had another idea in mind…
What the little cylinder thing? Where are we putting that? Many of you guessed teapots and urns…
Ahhh. A neck! Now it looks like a headless torso! Why the long face Tonto?
Mmm. So now we have what appears to be a man’s torso. At this stage, I was beginning to question what I was making too!
But it’s as I always say: It ain’t over till it’s over, right ?!
Ready for the final clue? I did shed a little light on it on Wednesday actually…
Yep. A Lampbase, a Lampstand! We had a few calls for Lampshade, which I may have to try another time! And finally, after a little nudging, and an invitation to roll again, we had a couple of correct guesses!
Hi Barbara I think that the ceramic template is going to be either a lamp base or a ceramic lamp shade .
It also reminded me of a lamp my mum made when I was a little girl
She made a little lamp from clam shells and she put a light fitting in the middle .
probably would look really naff today but I loved it cos it was made by my late mum
I also remember seeing ash trays made from clam shells
Take care
Best wishes Jackie
I also picked a couple of random names out of the hat, to receive a little bowl of mine. Thank you so much for wanting one of these!

The winners are:
- Sheila Williams (who guessed a lampshade early in the game)
- Jackie from Jackie’s Art Club (story above)
- Sara Wrightson
- JackieCou
- Diane Green
- Sue Carpenter
Thank you to all who joined in. We’ll have to try this again! I hope the lampbase survives the bisque firing after all this! Certainly been a labour of love thus far!
I shall have a look at my little stash and see what else I can add to the GIFT PILE for next time! Mind you, the stash is growing daily! We’re actually eating out of my porcelain bowls now! They are quite small mind. Porcelain don’t half shrink! Ah well. Portion control and all that…

But where did I get my inspiration for the lampstand? Let me show you the rest of the story…
Very famous German potter. I love his style, so I decided to try and emulate his shapes, and make something functional.
Right. Now. Are you ready for this little nugget? Here‘s a lovely vase by Coper. You can see where I got my inspiration from, right?

WHAT????!!!!!!!
Here’s another one….

HOWMUCH?!?!?!??!?!?!!?
YMBFJ!!!!!!
Now I’m no culture slouch, and I do appreciate art, I really do. But when I see a pot – A POT – sold for over 162 THOUSAND dollars, and another for over one hundred and thirty seven THOUSAND POUNDS, I have to ask myself which bus I’m on! Because clearly, the Number 59 Art Bus I’m on doesn’t stop here !!!
So I decided to make a lampstand the same kind of style as Coper, to prove I can, and when it’s finished, I’m going to put it up for sale on our local Facebook page, for £100,000.00. Bargain. And then I shall wait to see how many takers I get. I will even throw in the Ikea Lampshade.
There’s beautiful. And then there’s obscene.
Stay safe, be creative and enjoy art for what it is supposed to be. MAKE SOMETHING
Love always,
Barb xxx
